My favorite part of this whole experience has
been gaining more followers and
especially connecting with so many of you.

I love getting your comments and your questions

Without a doubt, the most frequent comments have been
about my color choices.
I thought what I would do this week is
take a trip through my house and share
take a trip through my house and share
my inspiration and the resulting
colors with you!
But where to begin?
How about the very beginning!
This is the front hall when we saw
Our Old Country House
for the first time
let me count the ways it disgusted me...the old old old dirty carpet going up the stairs the wallpaper was old and smoke stained and nasty...I could go on... but the potential... was ALL there! |
We have used a few colors in our entryway, but the current color is
Benjamin Moore's Feather Down
in Pearl Finish.
Remember Domino Magazine?
there was a Home featured in the August 2008 issue which
became my inspiration house.
From the moment you walked in...
it felt like I wanted my home to feel.
Airy and Light.
Remind me that I want to get a chandelier like that!

Here is what works with Feather Down. It is a soothing neutral, but with some personality and yet
not so much personality that it competes with the artwork, the color
the rugs and the "stuff" which fills our front hall.
My front hall doubles as my Mud room.
I have tried to put the Mud Room so many different
out of the way
places
but THIS is where it always ends up,
where it wants to be...
hence the need to keep things simple.

This color follows you up the stairs but as the upstairs hall gets
a massive amount of light and potentially
could completely wash out the Feather Down
We used a "sister" Benjmain Moore Color called
"Maritime White" in the upstairs hall.
It is just a shade dirtier, grayer
and perfect for that also busy,
but brighter....hall.
There you have it.
Tomorrow we will visit the Living and Dining Rooms and explore those
important color choices!
Thanks for visiting!
