I have never shown you pictures of the Old Sleeping Porch.
Of ALL the parts of our house...when we moved in....it was in the WORST shape...AND
has undergone multiple metamorphosis AND served many purposes.

I went through 50 tubes of caulk and a couple gallons of paint...cleaned it up a bit
.and made it into a makeshift guestroom...
.and made it into a makeshift guestroom...
In these big OLD houses, sleeping porches were sort of indoor -outdoor rooms...which were used during the HOT months....for sleeping. In addition, our room has a staircase which goes down to the
back porch and served as an entrance for the farm help...a century ago.
But last week...the room and all of it's ISSUES was bumped up in the PUNCH LIST line.
During Hurricane Sandy I went back to check on a broken window and discovered
water pouring in...I mean POURING in
all of the windows...
Sandy gave new meaning to the phrase...
"When it rains...it pours"
...so now...what do I do?
FIRST
I have to wait for it to all dry out...
Next I think it is time to make the room into my STUDIO...!
Presently this is where I PAINT AND store all of my supplies...
I just got THE NEW BOOK
CREATIVITY AT WORK
by
Heather Clarkson OF HABITUALLY CHIC
and I am inspired to make a space which is ALL mine.
One that does not require
constant cleaning or the moving of food!

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Definitely a silver lining and you so deserve your own studio space. Your work is amazing. Can't wait to see where you take it. Thanks for sharing, liz
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz...I cannot wait to show you...it will be life changing to have a space that I can work in...I think I need to make a pinterest page to collect ideas! Thanks for following!
DeleteOh, Sandy really did leave you with lots of work to do. Anyway, I hope you’ve fixed the windows and other leaks by now. Even though we are just on the first quarter of the year, typhoons are still waiting for their turn to pour upon us. -->Leif
