NOW,
You KNOW I love a POP of color...
ANYWAY BACK TO THE Dining ROOM....
...and I LOVE the fireplace cover painted yellow
....and the chair with the new houndstooth print...
.. little by little I have getting a kind of dark navy/charcoal, yellow thing going .
..with the aqua pieces...see lots of color.
..with the aqua pieces...see lots of color.
But sometimes...I have to keep myself in check.
For what often happens is that, because
I have a hard time saying "NO"...to a good color...
....all of a sudden instead of a POP of color
I have POPS
of color...
TOO much of a good thing
and then nothing is special..
CASE IN POINT.
... across the Dining room
...this BENJAMIN MOORE Autumn PINK and Horizon Gray painted
Hutch kept getting on my nerves...
I only painted it these NEW colors...a few months ago...but
what can I say....except...
I'm not feelin'it.
The love is gone....
during the school year, the hutch is where the books and school supplies and all the kids papers go, they each have a container for their things... |

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! the rug is actually the runner from the front hall, My Dash and Albert "Cats Paw"runner in Oatmeal. I brought it into the room to see how it looks...(LOVE IT) and now I am saving so I can get it for the dining room in 9'x 12' (I will be saving for a while....oh well.) But I DO think it pulls everything together perfectly... and it is the kind of rug that would be good in many places...so a worthwhile investment. |

What simple color change have you done lately?
Do you have a POP of color?
i love the new color! i think it makes your dishes pop and the dishes stand out as more fun and eclectic than they did before. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cassie! I agree, everything just looks more polished to me! have a great night!
DeleteWow - what a difference - the new colour looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzie, I cannot get over the difference...makes me wonder...what took so long!
DeleteLoving the makeover. Pink was nice, but the navy/charcoal really works with your space. beautiful! Thanks for sharing, liz
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz, I love it too! xo
DeleteI actually just made the same color change. I painted a china cabinet white with pops of blue on the hutch and inside the cabinet doors! I love yours. At first I thought it was black and then noticed it was blue. I also love the cat napping in your window :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I want a chevron couch!!!!!
Thank you, send me a pic of your cabinet!!! I adore my chevron sofa and it was relatively cheap to do!!!

DeleteI just attached a link to my cabinet...it was faster an email. haha! I'm off to poke around your blog : )
I never would have thought to switch up the color from pink to dark blue, but how great is that?!
ReplyDeleteLooking good.
sometimes you gotta do the thing that surprises you most!!!
DeleteI really liked the pink, but I really love the blue now!! It looks so different! Good job!! Those curtains are beautiful also are those the Martha Stewart curtains?
ReplyDeleteTHANKS!!! Yes the curtains are the martha Stewart ones. When I painted the DR the Ashwood, I traded the blue ones for the ivory from the pink living room. I think the pink living room looks so pretty with the blue and the dining room looks lovely too. WIN WIN!!! Thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog tonight via a link party. I too love pops of color, so I'm digging your black/white/yellow/turquoise thing. And the makeover of the hutch is purr-fect. (Pun intended because of your "Cats Paw" rug!) The pink plus the china you had staged on there came across very sweet. The new charcoal color and the staging is more sophisticated, but still vintagey.
ReplyDeleteHi there and I am SO glad you stopped by. I am in love with your blog too, just went over and spent some time there!! Happy 4rth!
DeleteLove, love, love! It's so gorgeous in blue, it really stands out! I've got this linked to my dining room hutches post too today, well done!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is really lovely. I like the new color and I find it well organized. The cabinets were truly fabulous. Thank you for sharing.
