DEFENSIVE DECORATING AND THE SOFA SAVER

From House Beautiful - 101 Designer Secrets

But you don't have to be a Professional designer to have your
"secret" solutions....am I right?
If you have been following my blog...then you know about
"the incident"...
to be precise...
SAD STORY  PART I HERE

The SOFA incident.
I received so many supportive comments
and some great suggestions, creative solutions,
special recipes...
AND many of them I tried.
I also listened to many of you who suggested
that the sofa was TOO new to be having
so many issues with washing and
I am still working with Pottery Barn,
hoping to get the slipcovers replaced.

One reader, experienced with pets and kids,
"Mud and Muck"
Loose Leashes
from Pinterest
SUGGESTED I put a pretty quilt over the sofa.
If only you knew.
I am WAY ahead of you there.
In fact, I think one of the reasons I was
so bummed was that I have SO many systems in place to deal with
the constant threat of dirt and mud and spills.
I call MY SYSTEM...
"Defensive Decorating"

You know my Chevron sofa?

WELL, the day my upholsterer delivered it, he had it covered with
a big plastic sofa sized shower cap.
I pretty much kept that thing on all the time...
for about 6 months...no lie...
...taking it off only for photos and visitors.

However, the pink living room is used daily now and
I needed to come up with a better plan.

Defensive Decorating and
THE SOFA SAVER!!!
The Sofa Saver is a matching, machine washable
sofa sized, cover.
EASY PEASY

TUTORIAL
I took 4 yards of extra fabric.
I lay it all out  cut it into TWO equal sized
2 yard pieces.
Then sewed the pieces together and matched the Chevron pattern
(if you don't have a pattern to match, you may not even have to do this part!)
I sewed the sides and
VOILA!!!

I found this today
Great Minds think alike!!!!

THE SOFA SAVER!!!!

sofa - without the sofa saver

the sofa saver, draped over, all casual-like

I carefully tucked the Sofa Saver  in, much like I do with the slipcover
like my nail polish?

I top stitched the center seam to make it look more Upholstery-like

BRING IT ON!!!

You are so funny! Great idea with the cover! My pup knows he is not allowed on the couch and never gets on it.... when we are home! the minute we leave he hops up and parties!

  3. oh, our dogs do the same...they are so smart.and hey they like to be comfy. I can't blame them. But since "the incident" my husband has been real strict, he hates to see me so sad.
